The keyboard and mouse work fine in the bios and continue to work in Linux (eg if I boot linux instead of The keyboard and mouse are still powered up ut Windows doesn't recognise them. The keyboard and mouse work fine for a while, then fail at boot time.

The problem appears to be either the generic HID drivers or the USB hub device drivers. The keyboard and mouse worked fine in Windows 7, and still work fine if I boot into Linux (Linux Mint and Fedora). Windows is using the generic keyboard and mouse drivers. I Have the same problem ( Asus motherboard, Intel P5, Intel 6 series/C200 motherboard chipset, generic Lenovo brand keyboard and a logitech MX518 mouse.) Sorry, no solution from me, but hopefully the additional voice will lend weight to this issue. It would be great if MS could figure this out and provideĪn updated set of drivers or do something else to resolve it, as it's frustrating when it starts to happen - I know at that point I'm sunk until I manage a reboot, and that's not terribly convenient in front of clients. However, it's not something I am capable of resolving.

I suspect it's a driver issue, and possibly related to how x86 and win8 native apps function together. The touchscreen works in those instances where keyboard and mouse do not. If I reboot, I am fine until the next time I use mixed native/desktop apps. Into sleep mode, the problem will fix itself for a short time, then recur. On occasions when I flip between win8 native apps and desktop apps, I have noticed that my keyboard and mouse will randomly become unresponsive. I have a very new Lenovo Yoga (touchscreen, win8 came installed). My thought was maybe the usb's get some error code when moving the mouse to wake computerĪlso maybe now that the drivers are up to date in the windows old folder they have carried over in to win8Īgain it's been a week, no guarantee that any of this is a solution, just thought I would give you a heads up Last in the power options I set it to put the computer to sleep NEVER You'll get a little warning flag but you can turn those notifications off in the action center

Maybe the drivers carried over from Vista to win8 that wayĪlso this time I DIDN'T delete the Windows Old Folder ( the Vista Install )Īlso turned OFF window automatic updates in win8 When reinstalling win8 upgrade when the option appears to bring files and settings over instaed of clicking NOTHING I clicked save files and settings file ) burned to DVD and installed upgrade that way Than went and reinstalled Win8 upgrade, this time though didn't use download from internet, made a media ( backup recovery iso. I REINSTALLED Vista, went in ran all the updates, updated all drivers, updated all software for usb devices Not sure if this will help but it's been a week now and hasn't happened again
